Assets represent everything of value in the estate. On Probate and Trust Administration matters, that is what the decedent owned. On Estate Planning matters, it is what the client owns now.
➕ How to Add an Asset
Open the matter, click Estate overview in the left panel, and scroll to the Assets section.
Click Add Asset.
Select the asset category (e.g., Real Estate, Deposit Account, Vehicle, etc.).
Fill in the category-specific fields that appear. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
On an Estate Planning matter with two clients, choose who owns the asset under Owned by: either client's name, or Both.
Click Save to add the asset.
✏️ How to Edit an Asset
Open the matter and navigate to the Assets section.
Click the asset you want to edit.
Update any fields as needed.
Click Save to apply your changes.
✅ Approval Workflow
Assets your client adds or changes in the Client Portal must be reviewed and approved by your firm before they appear in the Estate Overview. See Reviewing Client-Submitted Files, People, Assets, Debts, and Expenses.
💡 Good to Know
Owned by is separate from Ownership Type. Owned by records which client the asset belongs to, while Ownership Type records how title is held. See Understanding Asset Ownership Types.
