EstateMin integrates with Clio for document storage. When you upload files through EstateMin, they are stored as Clio documents linked to the matter. This keeps all of your documents centralized in your practice management system.
🔗 How It Works
When your firm uploads a document through EstateMin, the file is sent to Clio and stored as a Clio document.
EstateMin links the file to the matter.
The document is accessible both from within EstateMin and from Clio Manage.
Files synced from EstateMin appear in Clio under Matter > Documents > Estatemin > Estate Files.
📱 Client Portal Uploads
A file a client uploads through the client portal does not sync to Clio right away. It syncs only after your firm accepts it. To accept an upload:
Open the matter and go to the Client Portals tab.
On the client's card, open the Estate Files step.
Click Review uploads on the key file row.
Click Add to Estate Files.
The file is then added to the key file in EstateMin and synced to Clio. Nothing reaches Clio without firm approval.
📝 Accepted Questionnaires
Questionnaires follow the same accept-before-sync rule. A questionnaire your client submits does not reach Clio until your firm accepts it.
Once accepted, the questionnaire is saved as a PDF and synced to Clio under Matter > Documents > Estatemin > Estate Files > Questionnaires.
Each accepted submission is kept as its own numbered version, so if a client revises a questionnaire and your firm accepts the revision, both versions remain available. Accepted questionnaires are also listed on the matter's Estate Files tab under Accepted questionnaires. See How to Review a Client's Questionnaire.
🤝 Documents Your Firm Shares With Clients
When your firm shares a document with a client, the client sees the document your firm attached to the key file. Clients can view and download it but cannot delete it.
💡 Key Points
To download a file from EstateMin that has already synced to Clio, you need to be signed in to Clio Manage in your browser. If you are not signed in, you will be prompted to sign in to Clio first.
A client viewing a document your firm has shared with them does not need a Clio account.
Key files (Death Certificate, Will, Trust Document) are displayed on the Estate Files tab for quick access.
All other documents uploaded through the firm view are also stored in Clio.
Client uploads and questionnaires both reach Clio only after your firm has accepted them.
The maximum size for any single file is 25 MB.
