How to Complete Your Questionnaire in the Client Portal

Learn how to find, answer, save, and submit the questionnaire your attorney sent to your portal.

Your attorney may ask you to complete a questionnaire in your Client Portal. It is a short set of questions that helps them understand the estate and where things currently stand, so they can get on with your matter without having to ask you the same things repeatedly.

You do not need to have all the answers. Answer what you know, and say so where you are unsure.

šŸ“‚ Where to Find Your Questionnaire

  1. Sign in to your Client Portal.

  2. On your list of steps, find the Questionnaire step.

  3. Click the step to open it.

If you do not see a Questionnaire step, your attorney has not asked you to complete one.

āœļø How to Answer the Questions

At the top you will see the questionnaire title and a short introduction from your attorney explaining what they need.

Work down through the questions. Depending on the question you may be asked to type an answer, pick one option, tick everything that applies, choose Yes or No, or select a date.

  • Some questions have a line of smaller text underneath. This is guidance from your attorney about what they are looking for.

  • A question marked with a red asterisk must be answered before you can submit.

  • Where a question offers an option such as Unsure or None of the above, it is fine to choose it. An honest answer is more useful to your attorney than a guess.

šŸ’¾ How to Save and Come Back Later

You do not have to finish in one sitting. Click Save and go back to keep your answers and return to your list of steps. Your answers will be waiting when you sign in again.

šŸ“¤ How to Submit Your Answers

When you have finished, click Submit answers. Your questionnaire goes to your attorney to review, and the step is marked complete.

šŸ”„ What If Your Attorney Asks for Changes?

After reading your answers, your attorney may send the questionnaire back to you with a note explaining what needs attention. You will receive an email letting you know.

Sign in, open the Questionnaire step again, read their note, update your answers, and submit them again.

This is a normal part of the process. It usually means something needs clarifying rather than that you did anything wrong.

šŸ’” Good to Know

  • Your attorney can see your answers as soon as you submit them.

  • Your attorney may also fill the questionnaire in with you, for example while you are on a call together.

  • If a questionnaire is added to your portal after you have been invited, you will receive an email letting you know it is there.

  • If a question does not make sense, or you cannot answer it truthfully, contact your attorney rather than guessing.
