How to Customize Client Portal Content

Learn how to customize the introduction text for each Client Portal step and add your own message to the Get Started step.

You can change some of the text your clients see in their Client Portal. For each matter type, you can rewrite the introduction text at the top of each step and add your firm's own message to the Get Started step. A live preview shows your changes before you save.

📝 How to Open Portal Content

  1. Click the gear icon at the bottom left of EstateMin to open Settings.

  2. Under Firm, select Client portal, then select Content.

  3. Next to Matter type, choose the portal you want to edit:

    • Probate - Testate

    • Probate - Intestate

    • Trust Administration

    • Estate Planning

Each step in that portal is listed with a label showing whether it uses Default text or has been Customized. Click a step to expand it.

👋 How to Add Your Own Message to Get Started

The Get Started step welcomes your client to the portal. You can add a message box from your firm, which appears below the standard welcome text.

  1. Click Get Started to expand it.

  2. Under Color, choose a color for the message box.

  3. In Message title, enter a heading for your message. The default is "A message from your attorney".

  4. In Message body, write your message. You can use bold, bulleted lists, numbered lists, and links.

  5. Check the Preview panel on the right, then click Save portal content.

Your message appears on the Get Started step once you add text to Message body.

✏️ How to Edit a Step Introduction

Every other step, such as Estate Files, Assets or Debts, has introduction text that appears at the top of the step in the portal.

  1. Click the step to expand it. The current text appears under Step Introduction.

  2. Edit the text. Use the toolbar above the text box to add:

    • Bold text

    • A bulleted list

    • A numbered list

    • A link. Select the words you want to link, click the link icon, enter the web address under Link, and click Save. Click an existing link to edit it.

  3. Check the Preview panel on the right, then click Save portal content.

After saving, you will see a Portal content saved confirmation and the step's label changes to Customized.

👀 How to Preview Your Changes

The Preview panel updates as you type and shows the step you are editing. Click Expand preview to open a full-size view of the step as your client will see it, with your firm's branding applied. Click Close to return to editing.

🔄 How to Go Back to the Default Text

  • One step: expand the step and click Reset to default. If you change your mind, click Undo.

  • Every step for a matter type: click Restore defaults at the top right of the list.

Click Save portal content to apply the change.

💡 Good to Know

  • Saved changes apply right away to all Client Portals for that matter type across your firm, including existing portals.

  • Content is set separately for each matter type. Changes to Probate - Testate do not affect Probate - Intestate, Trust Administration, or Estate Planning.

  • The steps listed match the portal for that matter type. Estate Planning portals have no Expenses step.

  • If you clear a step introduction completely, the portal uses the default text for that step.

  • While you have unsaved edits, Unsaved changes appears at the top right. If you switch to another matter type before saving, you will be asked to Keep editing or Discard changes.

  • Only the introduction text and the Get Started message can be changed. Step names, tables, and the rest of each step stay the same.

  • To change colors, font, or logo, see How to Customize Client Portal Branding.
