How to Use Matter Review
Matter Review gives you a quick snapshot of where a matter stands, highlighting what’s complete, what’s missing, and what needs attention. Instead of checking each tab individually, you can open a single panel to review the full status of a matter in one place.
✨ How do I open Matter Review?
- Open the matter you want to review.
- Click the Review button in the matter header.
- The Matter Review panel will open over the Estate Overview. Click any section to expand it and see the details.
To close the panel, click the X in the top-right corner.
📋 What does Matter Review include?
The Matter Review panel contains the following sections. Each section can be expanded to see more detail.
✅ Case Checklist
The Case Checklist tracks whether key information has been recorded on the matter. Each item shows a green tick when complete or a red mark when missing. Items are grouped into the following areas:
- Jurisdiction & matter setup — county, case ID, and whether the decedent’s county of residence matches the venue county.
- Decedent record — key details about the decedent including date and place of death, SSN, marital status, citizenship, and occupation.
- Key documents — whether the will and death certificate have been uploaded.
- Fiduciaries — whether at least one executor is listed and whether fields like Willing to Serve, Convicted Felon, and Relationship to Decedent have been answered.
- Beneficiaries — whether beneficiaries have been added, with relationship and contact information recorded.
🕒 Matter Activity
Shows the most recent activity on the matter, split into Firm Activity and Client Activity. This gives you a quick view of when your team or the client last made changes, and what those changes were.
👥 Client Portal Status
Displays the status of each client invited to the portal, including their current status (Active or Inactive), last login date, how many portal steps they have completed, and which step they are currently on.
📅 Deadlines
Lists any overdue deadlines on the matter. If there are overdue items, a red badge will appear on the section header showing the count.
💲 Missing Valuations
Lists assets, debts, and expenses that are missing a valuation file or a recorded value. Each item shows its name, the reason it was flagged (for example, No valuation file attached or File attached but value at death missing), and its type (Asset, Debt, or Expense).
