How to Start and Submit Your Intake Portal

Learn how to start your intake with a law firm, fill in your intake portal at your own pace, and submit it for the firm to review.

Some law firms ask new enquiries to share their information through a secure intake portal before their first meeting. If a firm has sent you a link, or you found one on their website, this article walks you through starting your intake, filling it in, and sending it to the firm.

šŸš€ How to Start Your Intake

  1. Open the link the firm gave you. You will see a page headed Let's get started in the firm's colors.

  2. Enter your First name, Last name, Email and Phone. Your street address, city, State and ZIP are optional.

  3. Wait a moment while a quick security check runs, then click Continue.

  4. You will see Check your inbox! Open the email from EstateMin and click the link to sign in. There is no password.

If the email has not arrived, check your spam folder, as some email providers take a few minutes. You can click Open Gmail or Open Outlook to jump to your inbox, or click Resend Email.

šŸ“ How to Fill In Your Portal

  1. Start with the Get Started step. It explains how the portal works.

  2. Work through the steps in any order. Each step covers one part of your situation, such as the people involved, what is owned and owed, and important documents. The details you entered on the start page are already filled in.

  3. Add what you know, at your own pace. You do not need every answer, rough numbers are fine, and your work is saved as you go. You can close the portal and come back whenever you like.

  4. When you have finished a step, click Complete Step. See Marking a Step as Complete.

To sign in again later, go to app.estatemin.com/client-portal and enter your email. See Signing In with Your Magic Link.

šŸ“¤ How to Submit Your Intake

Nothing reaches the firm for review until you press Submit.

  1. On your portal home page, scroll to the bottom, below the steps.

  2. Under Ready to send everything to the firm, click Submit.

  3. If some steps are not marked complete, a window lists them. Click Submit anyway to send what you have, or Keep working to go back.

Once every step is complete, the portal asks You've completed every step. and offers to submit for you. Click Submit, or Not now to wait.

After submitting, you will see Submitted to the firm. The firm will review what you have shared.

šŸ’¬ If the Firm Asks for More Details

The firm may ask you for more information before they decide. If they do:

  1. You will receive an email with their note.

  2. Sign in. Their note is shown at the bottom of your portal home page, above the Submit button.

  3. Add what they asked for, then click Submit again to let them know.

Earlier requests are listed under Previously requested by your attorney, so you can check you covered everything.

āœ… What Happens Next

  • If the firm takes you on, you keep using the same portal as their client. Everything you entered stays, and the Submit button is no longer shown. The firm will be in touch about next steps.

  • If the firm decides not to take you on, your access to the portal ends. If you try to sign in, you will see Your access to this portal has ended. Contact the firm directly with any questions.

šŸ’” Good to Know

  • You can keep adding to your portal after you submit. The firm sees anything new.

  • You will receive reminder emails until you submit. They stop once you do.

  • If you see This link is no longer active, the firm is not taking new enquiries through that link. Contact the firm directly.

  • If your email address already has a portal, you will receive an email asking you to contact the firm rather than a sign-in link.

  • Names cannot include links or the < and > characters.

  • For questions about your situation, contact the firm directly.
