What Is the Client Portal and Why You Received an Invitation

Learn what the EstateMin Client Portal is, why you received an invitation, and what you'll do there.

The EstateMin Client Portal is a secure, online workspace you share with your attorney. You use it to send your attorney information and documents about the estate, and your attorney uses it to share documents back with you and ask you questions. If you received an invitation email, it means your attorney has set up a portal for you.

Coming Across Unfamiliar Terms?

Look out for the ⓘ icon next to fields and categories throughout the portal. It gives a short explanation of what's needed. On a document row in the Estate Files step, it also shows any instructions your attorney has left for you about that document.

🏠 Why Use the Portal?

  • It keeps your information safe and organized in one place.

  • Your attorney can review what you submit and add it to the official estate record.

  • Your attorney can share documents with you there, so you have everything in one place.

  • You can work at your own pace and complete sections whenever you are ready.

  • You don't need to remember a password. Access is through a secure magic link sent to your email.

📝 What You'll Do

The portal walks you through a series of steps to gather the information your attorney needs. The steps in your portal depend on the type of matter and on what your attorney has asked you for, so your portal may not look exactly like someone else's, even on the same estate. Your portal may include:

  • Get Started. An introduction to the portal.

  • Questionnaire. Answer a set of questions from your attorney about the estate or your situation. You will only see this step if your attorney has sent you a questionnaire. See How to Complete Your Questionnaire in the Client Portal.

  • Estate Files. View documents your attorney shares with you, and upload documents your attorney asks you for, such as the Will, Deeds, or Death Certificate. See How to View Files Your Attorney Has Shared With You.

  • People of the Estate. Add people related to the estate.

  • Assets of the Estate. List assets.

  • Debts of the Estate. List debts.

  • Expenses. Record expenses you have paid related to the estate administration process. You will not see this step for Estate Planning.

Don't worry if you don't have all the details right away. Your attorney will help fill in any missing pieces.

✍️ Can I Update Estate Information?

  • Yes. If you need to change or add information after you've submitted it, you can log back in to the Client Portal and update your entries at any time.

  • Once you make a change, your attorney will be notified so they can review the update. You do not need to contact your firm separately to let them know, they will receive an automatic notification.
