You may want to see the Client Portal the way your clients will before you invite them. To do this, you invite a person on a matter using an email address that you can access, then sign in to the portal from that inbox.
✉️ Choosing an Email Address for Testing
A portal invite cannot be sent to an email address that already belongs to an EstateMin user. This means you cannot use your own EstateMin sign-in email to test the portal.
Instead, use an email address that you can check and that is not used in EstateMin, for example:
A personal email address.
A free Gmail or Outlook account set up for testing.
The test address only receives emails about the test portal, such as the portal invitation. No firm or client details are sent to it.
🧪 How to Set Up a Test Portal
Open the matter you want to use for testing in EstateMin.
On the Estate Overview, click the person you want to invite in the People table and set their email to your test email address. The person must have a role that can be invited. See Who Can Be Invited to the Client Portal.
Send the invite. See How to Invite Your Client to their Client Portal.
Open the invitation in your test inbox and sign in to the portal. See Signing In with Your Magic Link.
💡 Good to Know
If the invite shows an error, check that the email on the person is not one already used by an EstateMin user, such as your own sign-in email.
To change the test email after the invite has been sent, see How to Change a Client's Portal Sign-In Email.
